I went to church with my family tonight and the pastor said something that I think every Christian should hear

  • Pastor:

Now, according to a few passages in the bible, homosexuality is a sin.

  • Couple of older males in the audience:

  • Pastor:

    Now, wait, I'm not finished.

  • Pastor:

You know what else the bible defines as a sin? Divorce.

  • -uncomfortable silence-

  • Pastor:

There are countless passages that talk about how divorce is wrong, and that there are consequences to getting a divorce, such as the wife should be stoned.

  • Pastor:

Yet, I witnessed a divorce just this morning. And I gotta tell you, it was heartbreaking, but I definitely didn't attempt to throw rocks at the wife, even though she was the one who filed for divorce.

  • Pastor:

We choose to overlook the consequences of divorce because time has proven that they're inhumane and cruel.

  • Pastor:

The bible doesn't say anything about the consequences of a homosexual lifestyle. Yet, we seem to be spearheading a campaign to ruin the lives of people we don't even know.

  • -the pastor shifts a few notes around-

  • Pastor:

The bible states to love thy neighbor. That's it. There are no other rules or restrictions to that passage.

  • Pastor:

So, we as a church family have to support equality with a smile on our face. THAT is the true Christian way.

How to shut up an asshole

I’m a seventeen year old girl trying to cope with intolerance…

So in theater the other day, me and my friends were talking about our celeb crushes, and some of the ones I mentioned were:

  • David Tennant
  • Chris Hemsworth
  • Misha Collins
  • Jared Padaleki
  • Scarlett Johansson
  • Karen Gillan
  • Billie Piper
  • Alex Kingston
  • etc.

I was showing my friends a picture of Karen and talking about how amazing and beautiful she is, and a girl who sometimes comes to my youth group walked up to me and said, "Wait you like girls… So your bi? But I thought you were a Christian?"  I looked her dead in the face and said "Yeah I don’t label my sexuality to appease society or those in it. I’m not gay, or straight or bisexual. I love people, I don’t care what you look like, all that matters is your heart. I believe that if I am a good person and I live by good morals, God will accept me. If he is our Father and he created me just the way I am, why would it matter who I love?"

Her retort was "Homosexuality is a sin and duh your bi if you like girls and guys. It means you like both genders." I just looked at her and said, "Well you don’t need to worry about my homosexuality then because you aren’t my type." and turned around and kept talking to my friends. The girl got really quiet and didn’t say anything else to me the rest of the class period.

Don’t let intolerant assholes ruin your life or even your day. You are amazing no matter who you love!
